
Melissa Crystal O'Neil (born July 12 1988,) is a Canadian actress and singer. O'Neil was the first Canadian woman to win Canadian Idol's third season, which aired in 2005. O'Neil is most well-known as an actress due to her performances in the series Syfy as Two or Rebeccaand Portia Lin, and on ABC as Officer Lucy Chen in the ABC procedural drama series The Rookie. She was placed in the bottom three spots and two contestants were eliminated. The judges were shocked at this and advised viewers to decide to vote Melissa for her singing talents. O'Neil's performances were always praised and O'Neil did not fall back to the bottom 3. Zack Werner, the judge, declared O'Neil "a contender to win the entire competition". O'Neil, along with Rex Goudie, reached the finals on September 7th on the 7th of September in 2005. Werner, a judge, famously declared that the headlines for the following day's newspaper will be "The King [Kalan Porter] has passed away. Long live the Queen." O'Neil defeated Goudie in the grand final results showon the 14th of September on the 14th of September, 2005. O'Neil was also crowned the third Canadian Idol and the first female winner.
