
Alexandra Morgan Carrasco, an American professional soccer player is a striker with San Diego Wave FC (NWSL) and is the captain of the San Diego Wave FC. She was also co-captain for the United States women's soccer team from 2018 to 2020 with Megan Rapinoe as well as Carli Lloyd. After graduating early from the University of California, Berkeley, where she played with the California Golden Bears, Morgan was picked as the first overall selection in the 2011 WPS Draft by the Western New York Flash. She made her professional debut at the club and was instrumental in helping the team win the league championship. Morgan was 22 years old at the time and one of the youngest players on the national team in the FIFA Women's World Cup 2011. The team finished second. In the 2012 London Olympics Morgan scored the winning goal in the 123rd minute in the semi-final match against Canada. She ended 2012 with 21 goals and 28 assists and Mia Hamm was the only American woman to score 20 and 20 goals. She was the sixth-youngest U.S. player ever to hit 20 goals in a season. After being named U.S. Soccer Female Player of the Year Morgan was also named a FIFA World Player of the Award finalist. Morgan also assisted in helping the United States win their titles at the 2015 and the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cups, where she was selected to the Dream Team for both tournaments and also won the Silver Boot in 2019.
